Purpose

On behalf of its UKRI clients UK SBS supports an integrated suite of Grants Systems comprising a customised Oracle Siebel CRM, a bespoke .Net external transactional web system, Oracle EBusiness suite and OBIEE – with Oracle Fusion Middleware (FMW) providing the integration middleware. 

There are a number of change projects either underway or planned for various components within this suite of grants systems, these projects include scoping changes to functionality, upgrade of software versions and change of hosting platform

The purpose of this role is to manage this suite of projects, and where applicable provide additional business analysis input to the team.

Scope

Delivering on time, within budget and to the agreed quality, and realising the projected benefits.

Update maintain the appropriate project governance, set up and manage delivery teams in a matrix manner and support and coach key team members in delivering the project successfully.

Utilise effective project management disciplines and management techniques to ensure successful delivery, including project definition, planning and scheduling, task, risk and issue management, dependency management, change management, financial management, stakeholder management and reporting.

UK SBS use both agile and waterfall methodologies depending on the nature of the project; an agile approach is standard for grants projects.

Individual:

  • lead projects from inception to delivery into live service
  • play a key role in the shaping of projects at inception working with senior stakeholders at a strategic level
  • develop and/or validate the project business case, and establish the methods and metrics for benefits realisation
  • establish projects using relevant and appropriate professional project management disciplines, including definition of the future state, delivery tranches and project governance across multiple customers and suppliers
  • initiate management interventions when required to resolve issues and maintain project momentum
  • control critical tasks and ensure team co-ordination to achieve complex deliverables
  • plan and resource projects and delivery tranches using a mix of employees, clients, contractors and work packages delivered by 3rd parties
  • monitor and control allocated resources including people, budget and infrastructure
  • lead the team(s) to deliver according to plan to meet stakeholder expectations
  • manage project scope using effective change control
  • manage risks, issues and dependencies to successful resolution
  • manage the quality of deliverables using appropriate methods
  • produce regular reports and presentations for project governance
  • communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, project teams and senior stakeholders
  • maximise value from resources through effective planning and control
  • provide feedback on project team members for performance management
  • provide coaching for project team members as required.

Team Management:

  • manage and motivate project team(s) to deliver a consistently high quality of work within expected timescales
  • encourage pro-active and self-managed actions to achieve tasks and deliverables
  • promote a customer-focused, team-based culture and establish an environment that strives for continuous improvement and delivers consistently high performance.
