The Information Officer will specialise in data protection, so a good understanding of GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 - and how this can impact the work place, is essential. You will deliver improvements on GDPR compliance and data protection impact assessments.

The role requires accurate data capture, analysis and requirement gathering for UK SBS systems and services. As well as providing on-going support to the company for general Knowledge and Information Management (KIM).

This will involve:

  • facilitating workshops with key contacts across all UK SBS departments: HR Service Delivery, Finance Service Delivery, Procurement, ISS (IT Services), Business Change and Corporate Services
  • leading the requirements gathering process for GDPR and wider information management improvements
  • supporting business areas on the completion of data protection impact assessments (to identify business risks, controls and technical and non-technical requirements)
  • supporting business contract owners on GDPR specific requirements for supplier contracts and on-going assurance
  • providing subject matter expertise, performing gap analysis and business process mapping
  • documenting business objectives and system requirements
  • liaising between business units, project teams and support teams
  • developing and maintain a corporate level information asset registers through collaborative working with the information asset owners on department specific registers
  • providing specialist GDPR advice and guidance to Project Managers.

You will also support the wider Risk, Information and Security Compliance (RISC) team - which involves:

  • liaising with key stakeholders to establish informed, targeted and transparent risk management and internal controls activities
  • providing informative and timely management reports and documentation
  • supporting and enhancing the administration, liaison and investigations of counter-fraud, security and business continuity activities in accordance with policies
  • supporting and enhancing compliance with legislation covering data protection, freedom of information, fraud and bribery
  • assisting with relevant training and awareness across the company
  • supporting business continuity arrangements as required.

Shortlisting Criteria


  • educated to at least A-level or equivalent standard or proven comparable experience
  • experience of facilitating analysis workshops
  • identifying technical and non-technical requirements
  • broad experience of a range of services and systems; experience of HR or Finance services would be beneficial
  • an understanding of GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018
  • working knowledge of wider information management principles.

  • understanding of complex enterprise systems and services, such as Oracle.
