STFC’s Digital Infrastructure department provides the infrastructure and enterprise services that underpin STFC’s programme activities.

Within the department a small portfolio office coordinates the delivery of a variety of IT projects that impact across both STFC and wider UKRI. Following an internal promotion an exciting opportunity has become available for a PMO Analyst preferable based at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) near Harwell, although flexibility to be based at Daresbury or Swindon. The post is likely to require some limited travel between STFC sites (primarily Harwell, Daresbury and Swindon). This role plays an important role maintaining and helping to improve the processes that have been put in place for managing project delivery. It is an excellent opportunity for either a current PMO Analyst looking to widen their experience or for someone who has some experience of working in a project environment and is now looking to develop a career in this area.

The high-level responsibilities of the role will include:

  • The administration of effective project monitoring and reporting processes and the provision of advice to project teams on PMO processes, ensuring that all agreed deliverables meet or exceed stakeholder expectations
  • Provision of data and information through a suite of reports performance dashboards and ad-hoc reports to assist with the management of resources to enable successful delivery of on-going work and projects, these include the coordinating production of the monthly highlight report and resourcing spreadsheet
  • Provide support to ensure the monthly DI Portfolio meeting and Portfolio Prioritisation Committee meeting run smoothly. Providing support to cover other Project Boards and other governance meetings as required
  • Management of the DI Portfolio Office SharePoint site ensuring projects maintain upto date project documentation in line with DI project process and templates. This includes ensuring effective RAID logs and lessons learned logs are in place across allprojects and maintaining singular Portfolio Logs at the strategic level
  • Management of the MS Project On-line portal helping to ensure that this is used effectively across the DI Project Portfolio, assisting project managers as they transition project plansonto this portal
  • Project Manage small projects within the portfolio that require light touch project management ensuring that project team meeting are held and progress reported
  • Manage the Lessons Learned repository; attend Post Project Review meetings to identify key areas of improvement to be captured into the Lessons Learnt repository
  • Carry out assurance review processes as required by the Head of Portfolio Delivery
  • Managethe PMO inbox and respond to queries accordingly.
