The role supports UK SBS in the continued enhancement of its risk management culture – including the development of policy, the implementation and monitoring of compliance controls, risk management, information management, counter-fraud, personnel and physical security, business continuity and other relevant technical and non-technical business activities.

The role has specific responsibilities to help UK SBS achieve, maintain and embed relevant standards, including but not limited to ISO 27001, ISO 22301 and HMG knowledge and information management principles.

Key Activities include;

  • Leading the assessment of business controls against good practice standards and regulations – predominantly ISO 27001, ISO 22301 and HMG knowledge and information management (KIM) principles - highlighting areas for improvement
  • Leading on the delivery of corrective action plans and monitoring/reporting the implementation of relevant improvement activities
  • Providing informative and timely management reports and documentation – including written and verbal briefs and presentations - to Senior Managers, Audit Committee, Board and others
  • Applying an appropriately layered approach to process control verification and risk management
  • Positively identifying and engaging with all stakeholders.

The above list is not exhaustive, and the role-holder will be expected to be flexible and carry out similar duties (not specifically listed) as and when required to meet business needs.

The post is based in Newport or Swindon. Some UK travel will be required.

Shortlisting Criteria

Essential 

  • A level in a related subject area or experience of working in Risk Management, Internal Controls (including ISO 27001 and ISO 22301) and Corporate governance.

Knowledge:

  • Of HMG
  • Information Management Principles
  • Policy Development
  • Of ISO 27001 and ISO 22301 
  • Counter Fraud Knowledge
  • Personnel and physical security.

 Experience;

  • In a similar role
  • Experience of working within a challenging and changing environment
  • Reporting writing and information gathering
  • Experience of BCP.

Desirable

  • Degree in a related subject to the role
  • Other relevant technical and non-technical business activities
  • Aware of Agile principles.
