You will lead and sustain a comprehensive risk management and internal controls function for UK SBS, including controls covering the prevention of fraud and bribery.

You will be responsible for the implementation and continued development of a robust risk management strategy and framework, including:

  • Leading the corporate 3 lines of defence assurance framework, being specifically responsible for 2nd line actions and the coordination of 3rd line activities
  • Leading on cultural change, including the embedding of an awareness regime and full suite of risk policies and guidance documents
  • As a ‘Business Partner’, being the primary contact on all risk issues between the RISC team, colleagues and partners
  • As a risk management specialist, preparing and providing verbal and written reports to the Executive, Audit Committee, Board and others
  • Leading the assurance reporting processes and assisting in the development of the Annual Governance Statement
  • Linked to the above, as the dedicated ‘Fraud Officer’, leading the design and implementation of an effective fraud and bribery control framework commensurate with defined risk assessments and risk profiles.

You will have line management responsibilities for a small team of risk and assurance officers, ensuring that objectives are identified and achieved and continued professional development takes place.

Shortlisting Criteria


  • An A level in a relevant subject area to the role or a professional qualification in a similar area (or equivalent)
  • Specialist knowledge of corporate governance, audit and internal controls
  • Specialist knowledge of Risk Management (Management of Risk/MoR)
  • Specialist knowledge of anti-fraud/bribery.


  • Education to degree level in a related subject area
  • Knowledge of Agile Principles.

Interview Criteria

  • Proven ability to produce, analyse and interpret service data
  • Proven ability to prioritise competing demands on self and influence the priorities of others

  • Experience of Risk Management and Internal Controls       
  • Relevant experience in Corporate Governance and compliance procedures  
  • Experience in anti-fraud/bribery.     


  • Experience of working in a Matrix Environment.
