The position will be to join the Central Services Operational Risk and Assurance Team to support the management of our operational internal controls, developing and delivering our First Line of Defence.  The role will ensure they are effective in mitigating process level risks for the operations teams (Finance, HR and Procurement). 

The key focus is to ensure effective independent quality monitoring, 1st line of defence testing and compliance of processes to support the delivery of our Quality Assurance Map ensuring that core controls are monitored. 

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Conduct monthly quality assurance across all the operations teams
  • Record quality assurance findings collate the reports for monthly SMT meetings
  • Provide performance leaders and managers with the outcomes of the quality assurance
  • Monitor Quality Assurance findings and escalate any risks to the Internal Assurance manager
  • Conduct sample testing across the operations teams to ensure the controls defined within the Risk and Controls framework (RAC) are followed and fit for purpose
  • Providing findings to the Internal Assurance Manager to feedback to management
  • Identify areas for improvement to be reviewed by the Projects & CI Specialist to improve efficiency and/or effectiveness of controls (i.e. option to remove workarounds and introduce technological solutions)
  • Responsible for the SOPs and Desk notes control document, liaising with the operations team to ensure all documentation is reviewed as required.

Shortlisting Criteria:


  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent qualifications
  • Knowledge in ensuring data compliance
  • Experience of stakeholder management
  • Knowledge of either Finance, HR or procurement processes
  • Able to analyse and present numerical data.


  • Quality assurance qualifications
  • Knowledge of audit procedures
  • An understanding of GDPR legislation
  • Experience of working in a shared services environment
  • Experience of working in a quality assurance role
  • Understanding of quality control processes.

  • Strong attention to detail and an analytical approach
  • Able to communicate and all levels.
